This all started out with one singular idea, a simple one that I had no idea about how to go and build.

All I wanted to put together was an MLB Bot, one that could give me all the latest data, analytics, and information about Major League Baseball. It’s a sport that I love and, as of this writing on May 14, 2026, my favorite team, the Houston Astros, are in a freefall.

But that’s for another time and, well, maybe a different newsletter.

I started tinkering around with doing some research on Perplexity, an AI platform that I was familiar with in using. All I had been using it for, honestly, was asking questions about classic TV (I LOVE “The Honeymooners”) and stars from long ago.

Now? Um, hey Perplexity, how do I build an MLB Bot?

Thus began a nearly 3-month, almost 400-hour journey to where GSR Network is today.

GSR Network is a collection of data-driven platforms supported by journalistic integrity. The slogan? “Built for journalists, by a journalist.”

Yes, I’ve been a journalist for 30-plus years, working at numerous newspapers across Texas (my home state) and Arizona. Additionally, I have had work published on large-scale publications like The Good Men Project, Entrepreneur, The Huffington Post, and others. Interested in my work history? Check it out, thanks to Muck Rack.

But I am now a founder, one who has poured his heart and soul into building out GSR Platform. The “MLB Bot” idea turned into looking at how I could even make a bigger platform dedicated to sports. By this time, I had moved my more technical work and questions to ChatGPT.

Yes, I know OpenAI is evil incarnate to some people. But, for me, I have found it to be very helpful when getting coding help for Python.

Python? Me? I knew about a Python being a snake. I am now much more familiar with this coding world.

Toss in GitHub and Vercel, too, which are used to push GSR Network’s platforms out to the world. Oh, I use Claude for my “Business Brain” work. It’s helped to keep things separate between two different platforms for me.

What are those GSR Network platforms?

  • Global Sports Report

  • Global AI Report

  • Global Politics Report

  • Global Entertainment Report

  • Global Betting Report

Now these five platforms are focused on five different verticals. That’s part of the strategy of GSR Network.

But wait, there’s more.

What runs GSR Network’s platforms, provides the data, gets it organized?

Behind all five platforms is what I have called the “Editorial Brain.” In working with ChatGPT, I’ve taken as much as I have learned in my journalism career and asked for ChatGPT to ingest those ideas into a framework.

Is it working? Right now, after hours and hours of fine-tuning, yes. There’s always room for improvement, but it’s working right now.

The time that I have spent building out GSR Network has left me with what I finally determined is “AI Brain Fog.” And I admit that it’s on me.

But I have just been obsessed about building out GSR Network. Why? Why am I, a 61-year-old man who writes and edits MLB stories for Roundtable Sports, doing this?

Because it’s a challenge.

Because it’s something that I see can become a very valuable asset to sports books, betting sites, sports media outlets, and even other verticals beyond the sports and betting worlds.

This “Editorial Brain” has sent me on a rocket ship 🚀 and I am still riding that bad boy.

So, in this introductory “GSR Network News” story (I prefer that over “blog post”), I wanted to share some insights on hits beginning.

And there is a very bright future for GSR Network.

This isn’t stopping anytime soon.

I want to make deals with sports media companies, sports books, betting sites, and other verticals down the road.

There is value in what GSR Network is producing.

For me, the journey continues.

I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
